- NEW YORK N.W. Ayer, New York, has won three new accounts, worth a combined $50 million: TrueCredit.com, an online credit report and advisory service; OmegaTech, which owns Gold Circle Farms; and Charming Shoppes, which owns the women's clothing brands Fashion Bug, Catherine's and Added Dimensions. The wins bring the Bcom3 shop's billings to an estimated $250-300 million. Lieber Levett Koenig Farese Babcock, New York, has landed creative and media duties for New York-based IKON Office Solutions. IKON spent $1 million on measured media last year, down from a high of $14 million in 1997, according to Competitive Media Reporting. The assignment encompasses traditional advertising, direct marketing, collateral and internal communications, said agency CEO Bob Lieber. IKON's previous agency was Bozell in New York. Cheryl Benton has received the Business Marketing Association's G.D. Crain Award, named in honor of G.D. Crain Jr., the founder of Crain Communications and a founder of the BMA. Benton, a partner and managing director of Internet services at Mezzina Brown & Partners, New York, was also elected into the BMA Hall of Fame. A former BMA international chairman, she will donate her $1,000 honorarium to the Carol Baldwin Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. America Online and Volkswagen have been elected to the Marketing Hall of Fame, sponsored by the New York American Marketing Association. Volkswagen, Auburn Hills, Mich., was honored in the classic category for brands more than 25 years old and for its enduring success in the marketplace. AOL, Dulles, Va., won in the current category, which recognizes companies that have built major brands in the last 5-10 years. Oasis, New York, will be handling advertising duties for Golf Magazine Properties' GOLFonline.com, a division of Times Mirror Magazines that delivers news, instruction, shopping and services on its Web site. The account was awarded after presentations by four East Coast agencies. Oasis is responsible for all print, TV and interactive advertising, and seeks to increase the site's visibility with its target audience, among other goals. The first campaign is scheduled to break this summer. Billings are undisclosed. Jerry Della Femina has been awarded the 2000 Adam's Prize by the Mary McDowell Center for Learning. The center, a nonprofit independent elementary school in Brooklyn, annually honors a person whose career success demonstrates that childhood learning problems need not prevent achievement as an adult. Strategic marketer Progressive Marketing Group, Melville, was voted Best on Long Island in three categories at the recent BOLI27 awards ceremony. In the Multi-media/Interactive Presentation category, PMG won for an interactive CD-ROM for Artisan Machining, a manufacturer of precision-machined components and assemblies. The company won in the Internet Web Site category for its work on the Spedale Photography Web site, and in the House Organ/ Newsletter category for its production of a newsletter for Canon U.S.A. Fairbrother and Co., a Chatham-based marketing-communications firm, won three top NORI awards and seven finalist awards at the 27th annual event conducted recently by the Ad Club at the NYS Museum. The agency won NORIs for its "Pregnant Woman" outdoor board for the Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, its "Keep Your Business Running" outdoor campaign, also for CDPHP, and for its interactive-media CD-ROM for the Group for Organizational Effectiveness. Fairbrother also received finalist recognition for additional creative work for the State Employees' Federal Credit Union, CDPHP, Empire Corporate Federal Credit Union, Private Mortgage Investment Services, agency self-promotion and Adelphi University. Ellenson Group in New York has won the Trellix Corp. account after an informal review of East Coast agencies. The Concord, Mass.-based client provides online and offline tools that enable people to create high-quality, multipage Web sites. The shop launched print ads earlier this month that are running in newspapers, such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal; other media are also planned. Billings are undisclosed. Ellenson Group, with billings of $17 million, was founded in January 1998. Other shop clients include Rƒmy Martin, Cointreau, Saab Aircraft and A&E Network. Survey.com, an eResearch-services company, will host its second eResearch Summit Seminar on June 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. The free, educational seminar will focus on harnessing the power of the Internet for primary market research, and Survey.com customers will be highlighted as case studies to show the benefits of using eResearch to grow and develop business, customer base and product lines. The featured guest speaker is Daniel T. Graham, solutions and strategy executive for IBM's Global Business Intelligence Solutions Unit. The shop won the busi-ness in a review that included three other agencies. The client is launching a new product, Intacs, which offers consumers with mild nearsightedness a new, flexible method of vision correction. Intacs are microthin prescription inserts that naturally reshape the cornea, giving consumers, in many instances, 20/20 vision or better. In the first phase, The Star Group will create and execute a comprehensive $5 million national, multimedia direct-response campaign that includes a direct-to-consumer and professional effort coupled with an extensive customized doctor-specific co-op program. - DELAWARE Deardorff Associates recently was awarded a Philly Gold by the Art Director's Club of Philadelphia for its DuPont/Teijin Films global-launch campaign, "A New World in Polyester Films." The Wilmington-based agency took the gold at the Philadelphia event in the category of Annual Reports & Promotional Design--Special Identity Program. The campaign included the creation of the corporate identity and standards for use, a tone-setting, promotional film, advertising, a re-engineered Web site, direct mail, collateral and press materials. The launch announced a global joint venture formed by DuPont and Teijin Limited.
