- FLORIDA Turkel Schwartz & Partners won best of show for its Bank United television spot, "Waiting Man," plus five golds and 19 silvers at the Greater Miami Addy Awards. Bates USA South received 10 gold and 27 silver awards, and BVK/Meka earned a gold and eight silver Addys. Spiro & Waites Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations in Fort Myers tallied 10 golds and 25 silvers at the Southwest Florida Addys. Meridian Group Marketing Communications took home a gold and two silvers from the Fort Lauderdale Addy Awards. Willman & Co. won four gold and four silver awards at the Gainesville Addys. Osprey Marketing Group of Stuart received five gold awards at the the Treasure Coast Addys competition. Seagram Americas has selected Miami's Sanchez & Levitan to develop a national public relations program for the Chivas Adelante Dance Tour, which will feature Spanish performers. Beber Silverstein Productions in Miami has been awarded responsibility for Florida Power & Light's monthly internal video news magazine. Mission Point Resort in Mackinac Island, Mich., has named Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown its public relations agency. The Orlando shop is also planning to construct a 40,000-square-foot building in the city's Maitland Center section. L&L Communications in Deerfield Beach has been named agency of record for New York-based shopping site Shopmama.com. - GEORGIA Turner Fernandez Turner took best of show and Huey/Paprocki scored 28 total awards at the Atlanta Addys. Austin Kelley Advertising earned a gold Addy for its Barn Fly print series. Creative Circus topped the student competition with its Thermos print ad. Hood Marketing Solutions has been hired by The Greenville [S.C.] News to create a branding campaign. The Atlanta shop was also retained by local restaurant chain Buffalo's Cafe as agency of record. HarborDental of Norcross has selected Fountainhead Advertising & Public Relations in Atlanta its agency of record. Both companies are located in Atlanta. BrainBuzz.com in Tampa, Fla., has retained Atlanta's Socket Public Relations. The Hauser Group in Savannah was named agency for Executive Aviation, an air charter service in Savannah. - MARYLAND Eisner Communications mined 16 golds at the Baltimore Addy Awards. Richardson, Myers & Donofrio amassed eight Addys. MaggieMoo's International, a chain of ice cream stores based in Columbia, has hired The Reeves Agency in Baltimore for public relations support. Bill Mitchell, former executive creative director at Eisner, has formed Bill Mitchell Creative in Baltimore to serve both agencies and clients. The agency also earned broadcast best of show, eight Addys and 51 citations of excellence. - NORTH CAROLINA West & Vaughan garnered its third consecutive best of show for its Morgan Imports print campaign at the Triangle Ad Club Addy Awards in Raleigh. The Durham agency also landed four golds and five silver citations. Raleigh's Howard, Merrell & Partners was runner-up with four Addys. Walt Klein & Associates grabbed three awards at the Piedmont Triad Addys in Winston-Salem. Corder Philips & Wilson in Charlotte has been hired by Yourunderwear.com to promote the Web site. Following its merger with Public Service Co. of North Carolina, natural gas company Scana Corp. has introduced its new name in a branding campaign by Charlotte's Wray Ward Laseter. Television and print advertising will debut "PSNC Energy--A Scana Company." Creativity 29, an international awards competition, has honored Durham's Peter Taflan Marketing Communications for advertising excellence. - SOUTH CAROLINA The Columbia Addys' best of show went to Townsend Design. Newman Saylor & Gregory gained 12 gold and 21 silver Addys. The Gillespie Agency and C.C. Rigg's each claimed two golds. The latter also won first place at the Carolinas Healthcare, Public Relations & Marketing Society and four awards from the Printing Industry of the Carolinas. South Carolina's Public Relations Society of America has awarded memberships to Julie Horton, Erwin-Penland, Greenville; Kelly Jackson, Carolina Children's Home, Columbia; and Kimberly Wellman, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Columbia. The Gillespie Agency was signed to provide advertising for the County Fair Restaurant in Sumter. The Columbia shop was also hired by People Resources in Sumter and North Charleston and Professional Employer Group in Columbia. - TENNESSEE The Buntin Group won best of show at the Nashville Addys for its work with the Tennessee Repertory Theater. The shop topped all entrants with 49 Addys. The Tri-City Metro Advertising Federation's broadcast best of show award went to Kingsport's Tombras Group for its Bank of Tennessee radio spot. Tombras also took home seven Addys and nine citations of excellence. - VIRGINIA At the Virginia Beach Addys, Barker Campbell Farley & Mansfield Advertising and Public Relations won best of show for its Virginia Beach Tourism cable spot. It also won six Addys and 10 citations of excellence. Thurston Chapman & Associates in Richmond has been awarded a pair of projects by Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone's Employee Federal Credit Union. Waldvogel, Poe & Cronk in Roanoke has assigned its advertising, marketing and public relations to O'Connor Group Advertising Design, also in Roanoke.
