FLORIDA Spiro & Waites Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations in Fort Myers has been named agency for Thompson & Schreiber, a law firm in Fort Myers. The agency has been charged with producing advertising and marketing materials for the marital and family law specialist. Husk Jennings Advertising in Jacksonville has been selected to develop several direct marketing programs and tests for Canada Dry. The agency will help launch a strategic database marketing project that promotes grocery retailer shopper card programs. St. John & Partners Advertising and Public Relations in Jacksonville has landed the account of Florida Banks. The local client, a newly formed holding company which recently completed the acquisition of First National Bank of Tampa, aims to create a statewide banking system. Long-distance telephone services provider Intercontinental Communications Group of Delray Beach and frozen pizza maker Heaven's Bistro of Santa Monica, Calif., have placed their national public relations programs with Gilbert & Manjura Advertising in Orlando. The new business pushes the agency's public relations fee billings beyond the $300,000 mark. Morgan & Partners of Jacksonville has secured the accounts of Eagle Ranch in Colorado, Thunder Spring in Idaho and the Wareham Property Group of California. Combined billings top $1 million. Leonard Anderson Advertising in Tampa has acquired the account of the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. The agency will handle all consumer advertising for the team's 1998-99 season, including television, radio, outdoor and newspaper. FKQ Advertising in Clearwater will handle media and promotions. Century III at Universal Studios in Orlando has received a number of creative awards recently from the American Marketing Association. The teleproduction facility won a silver and three golds from the Orlando Advertising Federation for work done for Universal Studios in California, the Kennedy Space Center and Brown Bag Effects. Regionally, Century III won a gold for Universal Studios in California, work which also earned a national citation of excellence. GEORGIA Definition 6, an Internet specialist in Atlanta, has signed seven clients: Edwards Baking Co., DDI, Dixie Egg, Epi De France, R.L. Brown, Staff Resource and S&S Mills. Creative Sharks, an Atlanta-based company specializing in new media, has launched a Web site. Christened "The Shark Tank," the site is located at www.creativesharks.com. MultiPreviews, an Atlanta provider of multimedia services via the Internet, has developed amplified.com. The Web venue enables consumers to download music and create custom compact discs. MARYLAND The National Child Support Enforcement Association has named the Maryland Child Support Enforcement Program's public awareness campaign the best in the country. The award, which recognizes effectiveness of media presentations, was presented during the group's recent annual training conference. The campaign was developed in partnership with Campaign for Our Children and Richardson, Myers & Donofrio in Baltimore. NEW MEXICO Rick Johnson & Co. in Albuquerque has launched four 30-second television spots and two 30-second radio ads for United Blood Services, also of Albuquerque. The commercials, scheduled to air in 16 markets around the country, use humor to reach young people who may be wary of donating blood. TENNESSEE Image III in Nashville has launched the second phase of a media campaign for Columbia HCA's 12 local hospitals. The series has been running throughout the summer. TEXAS Pioneer Cos., a producer of specialty chemicals, has hired Robert Lamons & Associates in Houston as its agency of record. The shop has completed a capabilities brochure for the client's chlor-alkali products. Pioneer's chemicals are used as building blocks in the manufacture of household and industrial products. The Nelson Group of Fort Worth has earned two Global Design Awards for a print ad and promotional materials created for Jamak Fabrication in Weatherford. The client specializes in custom-built silicon components and assemblies utilized by the automotive industry. Fogarty Klein & Partners Pubic Relations in Houston was tapped to handle a community relations program for the Minute Maid Co. The agency was also chosen to provide business-to-business communications for Edge Petroleum Corp. The Symphony League of Fort Worth has selected Payne Advertising and Design in Fort Worth to produce promotional materials for Oktoberfest 1998. The event's theme is "Let the Ooompah Play." TimePiece Public Relations of Dallas was appointed agency of record by 1st Global Inc., a financial services company. Nourzads in Elgin was signed to develop advertising and collateral materials for People Solutions, a human resource consulting company headquartered in Dallas. The client, formerly known as Human Resource Solutions, also has offices in Fort Worth and Austin. Meltzer & Martin Public Relations in Dallas was retained by ResortQuest International. Based in Memphis, Tenn., ResortQuest provides vacation rental and property management services. Meltzer & Martin will be responsible for local and national media relations activities. Richards/Gravelle in Dallas was chosen as advertising and public relations agency of record for The Staubach Co., a real estate specialist based in Dallas. The agency is working on brand development, public relations, advertising and direct marketing. Staubach operates 20 offices in the U.S. and Mexico. VIRGINIA Sharon Brooks & Associates Advertising in Richmond will produce a direct mail piece for the Bright Beginnings project of the YMCA of Greater Richmond. The shop is working on a pro bono basis. The Merdian Group-Marketing Communications in Virginia Beach has landed three new pieces of business: LagoMar Resort Hotel and Club, The Stanley Hotel and the Crown Plaza Hotel. Combined billings will generate approximately $1 million.
