FLORIDA The Boner Group in Palm Beach has been awarded the advertising and public relations account of Republic Security Bank in West Palm Beach. Estimated 1999 billings are $1.5 million. Boner defeated six other Florida agencies for the business, pitching a new tagline, "These are the good old days," that accented the client's established nostalgia-themed advertising. RJ Gibson Advertising of North Palm Beach was chosen by PGA of America to create a press kit folder for the 1999 Ryder Cup, to be held Sept. 21-26 at the Brookline, Mass., Country Club. The PGA also selected the agency to design the logo for Valhalla Golf Club, host of the PGA Championship in 2000 and 2004 and the Ryder Cup in 2007. The agency designed St. Petersburg's citywide graphics "look" for this month's National Collegiate Athletic Association's 1999 Final Four. For the Atlantic Coast Conference, it will handle media planning and buying to advertise the 1999 season's televised ACC football games. Moore will also spearhead marketing and promotional efforts for USA Gymnastics' American Cup, to be staged in early March at the St. Petersburg Bayfront Arena. Harman/Hettig Marketing and Promotions in Largo has been retained to handle advertising and marketing for Amerigel Skin Care Products, a subsidiary of Procyon Corp. in Clearwater. The account is estimated to be worth $2-3 million annually. Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown of Orlando has been appointed the public relations agency for Cozumel, the largest island in the Mexican Carribbean. GEORGIA Canyon Cafe, a Dallas-based, Southwestern-themed restaurant, has chosen Golin/Harris of Atlanta to launch a national marketing communications program. KilgannonMcReynolds of Atlanta has launched a 1999 ad campaign for Southern Linc, a digital wireless communication service from Atlanta's Southern Co.. The ads, featuring whimsical illustrations of a Fidelity banker with an angel's halo, include a new slogan, "Fidelity National. The better bank." MARYLAND Baltimore's Chris Nufer Radio has been selected to create and produce a series of radio spots to promote Washington, D.C.-based WTTG/Fox Five's news programs. MISSISSIPPI Maris, West & Baker of Jackson won all three best of show honors at that city's annual Addy Awards, for its print, broadcast and overall campaign for Rosemont Gardens, a funeral home. The most awards went to Jackson's Broderick Bates Advertising, which earned six Addys and eight citations. BBA's Morris Spears was named graphic designer of the year. NORTH CAROLINA Littleton Advertising & Marketing of New Bern has been appointed the agency for Wakefield Plantation, a residential development located between North Raleigh and Wake Forest. Bouvier Kelly of Greensboro has been hired by Barnhardt Manufacturing of Charlotte to be the agency for its Richmond dental division. Six print ads by Charlotte's Wray Ward Laseter have been selected to appear in Art Direction's 1999 Creativity Annual. The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University has chosen The Zimmerman Group of Durham for the second consecutive year to produce international advertising and direct mail to promote its Global Executive MBA and Executive Education programs. The agency was also signed by the Southern Research Institute of Birmingham, Ala., to provide advertising, direct mail and Web site development for its drug development division. SOUTH CAROLINA Carlos Jimenez, president of Greenville's Leslie Advertising, was awarded the American Advertising Federation's Silver Medal Award at Greenville's annual Addy Awards. Jimenez is responsible for several nationally acclaimed ad campaigns, including "Come back to Jamaica" for that island's tourism industry, and Ryder's "The best truck money can rent." Also at the Greenville Addys, Erwin-Penland of Greenville won best of show for broadcast advertising for the second consecutive year. The agency's Tom Leach was recognized as copywriter of the year. VIRGINIA Cortani & Morrison Advertising and Public Relations in Virginia Beach has been selected agency of record for the Virginia Stage Co., a regional theater group. Delceno Miles, president and chief executive of The Miles Agency in Virginia Beach, was one of 35 business owners nationwide chosen to participate in the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management's Advanced Management Education Program. Hambright, Calcagno & Downing in Virginia Beach has been named agency of record for a newly formed cooperative of six Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits restaurants in the Milwaukee area. HC&D's Chicago office will service the account. Atlanta-based Popeyes began its relationship with HC&D in 1986. The shop now represents 310 restaurants in 45 major markets. Barker Campbell Farley & Mansfield of Virginia Beach was the big winner at the Hampton Roads (Va.) Addy competition. BCF&M won a total of 21 awards, including 9 Addys, 11 citations and a judges' special recognition honor.
