CONNECTICUT Silverman Group, a sports and lifestyle specialty agency in New Haven, has created a communications program for NHL Enterprises with the theme, "On solid ice." MASSACHUSETTS Barrett Communications in Cambridge has been retained by the Boston University Center of International Health to refine a logo for use in promotional materials. Sterling Hager, a high-tech public relations shop in Cambridge, has been hired by business software maker EpiCon in Waltham, communication applications developer Framework Technologies in Burlington and imaging software maker Treev in Herndon, Va. The agency also has added assignments from online portal StartupNetworks.com in Boston, which provides entrepreneurs and job seekers with services for locating employees and employment opportunities; Bitstream in Cambridge, which develops digital typeface technology; Pegasystems, also in Cambridge, which provides customer relationship software; TechOnLine in Waltham, which offers free, Internet-based education and information for electrical engineers; Transcept in Manchester, N.H., which manufactures products for wireless communications applications; and New York-based Expand Networks, which specializes in products for the bandwidth industry. Accent Communications in Beverly has developed three new corporate Web sites. A site for Dogwatch in Natick showcases pet containment and training products such as electronic fencing and bark controllers. Features include a nationwide dealer search engine and the ability to customize searches for specific breeds, sizes and canine temperaments. A site for Eaton Corp.'s new semiconductor equipment division in Beverly includes a pressroom section and downloadable images for use on the covers of trade publications. A site for Boston-based LegaLink provides deposition scheduling and other services. Cosmic Blender in Watertown has been hired by ESPN in Bristol, Conn., to create and produce a broadcast package for all the football and basketball games of the NCAA's new Mountain West conference. The assignment includes opening and bumper segments that will air in the fall. Two- and three-dimensional animation and "a ton of game footage" will be used in the spots. Cosmic Blender already handles some print and broadcast assignments for Mountain West. Jon Olson has formed Olson Advertising & Design at 337 Summer St., Boston. The startup will create advertising and design work for business and consumer clients. Olson's background includes stints as creative director of defunct Roberts & Olson and as a vice president of the design group at the former Cabot Advertising in Boston. Benes Communications in Lexington has been enlisted to redesign the uniforms of the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels precision jet flying team. The agency also has been tapped by Object Design in Burlington for a marketing and collateral campaign. VERMONT Burlington-based Delux Design Associates--formed in December by Keith Brown and Karalyn Middings--has added several assignments over the past few months, including work from the Burlington Office of Economic Development, Mountain Sports International, Frogirl Threads, Kelty, Phish, the Boulder Rock Club and Burton Snowboards.
