NEW MEXICO The New Mexico chapter of the Public Relations Society of America awarded Rick Johnson & Co., Alburquerque, two El Cumbre ("Pinnacle") awards for the agency's work with the Gallup FAM Tour and the 1998 PNM Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Program. Kilmer & Kilmer, Albuquerque, will have its work recognized in Print's Sports & Entertainment Show November 1999 for a poster project on behalf of the International Family Film Festival. TEXAS Ward Communications in Dallas has been retained to handle media planning and buying duties for WarrantySuperstore.com, a new company selling discounted warranties over the Internet for products ranging from automobiles to appliances. Milagro Media has assumed marketing and media buying for Latino Communications' Enlace Latino telecommunications service. Enlace is an 800 phone service for calls from Mexico to the United States. The service recently rolled out in Houston and Dallas supported by television, radio and telemarketing. Joppie Belken Arters in San Antonio has changed its named to Joppie Arters + Associates following the departure of founding partner Don Belken. The Hart Agency in Dallas has been signed by national public relations agency Stratis/KPR in New York to handle Texas media relations for the launch of Hoffman-La Roche's weight loss drug Xenical. Love Advertising of Houston celebrated its 20th anniversary last month. In Houston, Soileau & Associates has been named agency of record for Assist Communications & Technologies, a telecommunications company. Witherspoon & Associates in Fort Worth received a citation of excellence at the national Addy awards for a 30-second TV spot produced for client Carter BloodCare. Methodist Hospitals of Dallas has retained Cooksey/McGill Communications, Dallas, as its advertising and marketing communications agency of record following a review. Makos Advertising, Marketing and Design in Austin has launched an e-commerce Web site for Texadelphia, a restaurant in Round Rock. The agency has also been hired by Worldnet Box Office to handle advertising for the launch of ClubCast Live, an Internet broadcasting site. GibbsBaronet in Dallas will have its creative work featured in three upcoming publications: Graphis Interactive '99, Critique magazine's The Big Crit '99 and the American Institute of Graphic Arts Annual. Swieter Design U.S., Dallas, has launched a separate interactive business, Hybridigital, to be led by Michael Petree as president and Chris Ronan as director of technology. The agency will have creative work for client Dallas Area Rapid Transit featured in this year's Graphic Design Annual. Ten of the agency's logos are also featured in the August issue of Novum, a German design magazine. OliveDesign in Austin has launched a new Web site for PointOne Telecommunications, an Austin-based telecommunications supplier.
