FLORIDA Willman & Co. in Jacksonville has been honored with an Excel Award from the Sales & Marketing Council of the Florida Home Builders Association. The agency won in the best black-and-white advertisement category for an ad it created for Centex Home. The work also garnered local and regional gold Addys. St. John & Partners Advertising and Public Relations in Jacksonville recently received six awards in the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen's Gallery of Superb Printing competition. The shop's creative efforts on behalf of the Jacksonville Convention & Visitors' Bureau, Vistakon and Southern Ford Dealers reeled in three silver awards and three honorable mentions. Chenoweth & Faulkner Advertising in Tampa has acquired additional project work from Microsystems Technology. The agency will create a new graphic image for the client. That new look will be incorporated into stationery, collateral materials, brochures and product packaging, among other media. Post Edge in Miami recently completed editing and audio post-production for a new American Express commercial that will air in Argentina and Mexico. The BellSouth unit markets and maintains Yellow Pages Online; Equibanc is a wholesale mortgage lender; and ADAC is a resource for residential and contract furnishings. The catalog marketing division of Cadmus Communications Corp. in Atlanta has changed its name from 3 Score to CadmusCom Atlanta. Abovo Marketing Group, an Atlanta firm that specializes in launching technology companies, recently ended its first year in business by reporting income of $655,000 against billings of $1.1 million. MARYLAND Control Cable, Voice and Data Communications Specialists has hired Fast and Associates in Columbia to develop a communications program. The client offers network engineering services, custom cable assemblies and fiber optic products. NORTH CAROLINA Richard French & Associates in Raleigh has been assigned the consumer products public relations business of Kasper for A.S.L., a supplier of women's suits, dresses and sportswear. SOUTH CAROLINA The Lewis Group in Greenville has acquired Miller Displays, a corporate signage specialist. Miller will continue to operate at its present facility in Greenville. TENNESSEE Samsung Telecommunications has selected Archer/Malmo in Memphis to develop co-op advertising and marketing programs for its office automation and wireless divisions. The agency will also manage fulfillment for the client's point-of-sale, promotional and rebate programs. The Tombras Group in Knoxville has added a Yellow Pages division. The agency received its certified marketing representative accreditation last month from the Yellow Pages Publishers Association. TEXAS GSD&M in Austin has launched four 15-second TV spots promoting Southwest Airlines' sponsorship of the National Football League. The ads show fans acting oddly in everyday settings. In one, two ushers at a wedding pour a bowl of punch on the bride and groom--duplicating a common on-field ritual. Each of the ads ends with the on-screen lines, "Must be football season" and "Proud sponsor of the NFL." DDB Needham Dallas has released the latest TV spot in an ongoing series for athletic shoe retailer FootAction USA, based in Irving. The 30-second ad stars Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos. VT/TV Graphics of Houston has produced "We Got Next," a video for Houston Comets advertisers and season ticket holders. The 22-minute program premiered last month at a private showing held for Comets players and corporate sponsors. VIRGINIA Vanity Fair Intimates, a division of VF Corp., was one of a handful of companies honored last month by the Advertising Women of New York for developing advertising that features positive depictions of women. The campaign was created by The Martin Agency in Richmond. Sharon Brooks & Associates Advertising received five prizes at the 15th annual National Healthcare Advertising Awards competition. The shop won one gold and four merits on behalf of its work for Children's Hospital and Cloverwood. Saxon Shoes in Richmond has been named the nation's best marketer by the National Shoe Retailers Association. The company won for its "Saxon Shoes. The great big department store for feet." campaign, developed in conjunction with Barber Martin & Associates in Richmond. CadmusCom in Richmond received an award at the 21st annual 100 Show for a Richmond Symphony's "Great American Music Ensemble" poster. The show, sponsored by the American Center for Design, will travel to several U.S. cities beginning next September. The shop also received a certificate of excellence from the Brand Design Association and was honored at the American Graphic Design Awards '98 show for its Children's Film Festival, Cadmus Corp. Catalogue Services and Tarmac Construction Materials work.
