NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Shugart Matson Young, San Ramon, added Advantix to its client roster. James Martin & Co., an international provider of information technology solutions, hired Global Technology Communications, a global affiliation of public relations firms specializing in information technology, to manage its strategic communications. Microsoft Consumer Productivity Division hired Edelman Public Relations in San Francisco to handle public relations for its Picture It, Greetings Workshop and Home Essentials 98 software products. OREGON Petpro in Inglewood, Calif., selected Dodge Schmitgall, a Portland-based advertising agency, to introduce its newest pet food product, Vita Gravy. ID, a Portland-based corporate and brand identity firm, created brand identities and literature for two of Hartford, Conn.-based Travelers Property Casualty's product lines: TravComp, a brand of workers' compensation insurance, and Constitution State Services, Travelers' third-party administrator. Miller Marketing Advertising & Public Relations in Portland has completed design and production work for the introduction of the new Tropical Pudding line from Harry's Fresh Foods. The shop also developed packaging and sales collateral materials for Harry's Classic Pudding line. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Lorenz Advertising & Design in San Diego was retained by Monarch Brewery to introduce and promote Monarch's Rest Restaurant & Brewpub in Yuma, Ariz. Mustang Marketing & Advertising in Agoura Hills was hired to create new collateral materials for the city of Paramount. Orconet, an Orange- and San Jose-based data communications company, selected GreenLight, Newport Beach, as its advertising and public relations agency. Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach named Buckley/Friedman Advertising and Public Relations in Costa Mesa as its agency of record. KOLI Communications in Los Angeles was hired by both the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Santa Barbara Conference & Visitors Bureau and Film Commission for one-year terms. The shop was also hired by Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort in Solvang to handle its North American public relations campaign. Radium, a San Francisco-based creative digital studio, has opened a satellite office in Santa Monica. Chicago-based Exhibitgroup/Giltspur has moved its Los Angeles division to the Warland Cypress Business Center, located on the border of Orange and Los Angeles counties. WASHINGTON Rei.com, Recreational Equipment Incorporated's online store, hired DeLaunay/Phillips in Seattle to handle its news media relations. The city of Tacoma hired The Leonhardt Group, a Seattle-based brand design and marketing communications firm, to create a new identity package for Tacoma Public Utilities. Parallel Communications, a Redmond-based marketing communications agency, was hired by the state of Washington to work in conjunction with the state's Higher Education Coordinating Board to market a prepaid college tuition program. Microsoft has chosen Palazzo deMix, Seattle, to design and produce four new animations for its Encarta interactive CD-ROM encyclopedia.
