Paradigm Communications in Tampa has created a new position, vice president and group account director, and appointed Natalie Speechley to the post. Maria Romero has joined Accentmarketing in Miami as senior account supervisor. Michael Anthony has become a junior account executive at The Weinbach Group in Miami. Daytona International Speedway in Daytona has appointed Glyn Johnston director of communications. GEORGIA EM2, an Atlanta brand development specialist, has been cited for outstanding performance by the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the American Advertising Federation. It was recognized for its work on a series of four-color publications commemorating outstanding lectures. WestWayne in Atlanta has recruited Lynn Hawkins as director of art services, Mary Beebe as director of traffic, Jim Poyner as print production manager, Margaret Noxon as senior media buyer, Danica Walker as senior producer and Elizabeth Haden as broadcast production assistant. Executive vice president Jay Shields has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer at Atlanta's Austin Kelley Advertising. Clockwork Advertising in Atlanta has assigned art directors Brigitte Marcic and Jean Sudermann to its Boral Bricks, Remy-Amerique and Coca-Cola accounts. Gordon Bailey & Associates in Atlanta has hired Cynthia Sanders as an account executive, Jenni Hilton as an assistant account executive and Tut Brown as a production assistant. Communications 21 of Atlanta has signed four new area clients: Australia 2000, which contracts and coordinates performing groups from around the world to entertain in Australian cities where the 2000 Olympic Torch Relay will tour; il Centro cafe; Vino restaurant; and Whole Foods Market. The latter is in conjunction with Atlanta agency Flanavision. Atlanta-based Sawyer Riley Compton has added two new clients to its public relations division: Solutia, a producer of Acrila fibers for upholstery fabrics; and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. The former is headquartered in Atlanta, and the latter is located in Herndon, Va. Pollak Levitt & Nel of Atlanta won a gold and seven silver Addys awards at this year's Atlanta Addys competition. KENTUCKY Buzzword in Lexington has launched a Web site for Berean Christian Bookstores of Cincinnati. MARYLAND Callahan & Co. in Baltimore was a winner in How's 1999 Design Annual. The agency won a merit award for its "Collectors Series" of self-promotional postcards. Kevin Best, formerly at The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., has moved to Baltimore-based Eisner & Associates as an account supervisor. NORTH CAROLINA At the High Point Addys, The Burris Agency won the most awards, receiving best of print and nine citations of excellence. At the Fayetteville Addys, Hodges Associates won three golds and six citations of excellence. In the Triangle region of the state (Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill), West & Vaughan of Durham won the best of show broadcast Addy for its campaign for Biscuitville restaurants. Howard, Merrell & Partners in Raleigh has assigned Rebecca Cantu Helmstetler to its account planning team. TENNESSEE 615 Music Companies of Nashville won an international Mobius advertising award and an Emmy for its work in music composition and arrangement for the broadcast industry. The music was used in promotional broadcasts for the University of Tennessee and appeared on cable TV's Animal Planet network in Bethesda, Md. Drew Heltsey has joined Endres & Wilson Advertising in Nashville as an account manager. The shop also enlisted Jean Johnson as an assistant art director and Adriel Herring as an administrative assistant. The Buntin Group in Nashville has welcomed Melanie Hill and Deanna Harper as account executives. Jim Weakley has joined First American Corp. in Nashville as executive vice president and director of marketing. VIRGINIA The City of Norfolk has honored Hambright, Calcagno & Downing Advertising and Public Relations of Hampton Roads for donating more than $150,000 in services that helped boost attendance at the Nauticus National Maritime Center by 26 percent. Attendance reportedly had been in decline every year since the facility opened in 1994. Also, the Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals gave HC&D art director Traci Manchester an award of excellence for her Nauticus creative work. Laughlin, Marinaccio & Owens Advertising of Arlington has begun offering clients new media technologies that include the planning, design, development and management of Web sites, as well as the creation of interactive CD-ROM programs. The new media services are overseen by Huy Nguyen, the agency's director of interactive services. Cortani & Morrison Advertising and Public Relations in Virginia Beach won a first- place Mobius award for its "Art of Advertising" corporate identity piece. Stephanie Bolick has arrived at Stackig Advertising and Public Relations in McLean as senior vice president. Bolick will be in charge of the company's group that specializes in corporate communications for high-tech clients. WASHINGTON, D.C. Abramson Labus De Velde has employed three new personnel: account supervisor Dee Dacey, media buyer and planner Brandye Batten and junior media planner and buyer Jason Lang.
