TFA Communications in Chicago has added three new clients: May & Speh, New Logic and Net Perceptions.
Upshot in Chicago was named sales promotion agency of record on the Absolut vodka brand by Seagram Americas.
The Investor Relations Co. in Northbrook was selected by ErgoBilt, a marketer of ergonomic products, to handle financial public relations.
Davis Harrison Dion in Chicago was named agency of record for Pinnacle Bank, which has 15 branches in Illinois.
DDB Needham Chicago was named to handle pro bono advertising for the Museum of Contemporary Art.
INDIANA
CRE MARCOM in Indianapolis was selected by K&W Products, a manufacturer of automotive engine additives, as its agency of record. The assignment includes public relations, sales promotion and research, as well as advertising and media planning and buying.
Hickman & Associates in Indianapolis was chosen as advertising and public relations agency of record for Hancock Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
IOWA
Crystal Group, a manufacturer of personal computers for Internet and networking applications, named Creswell, Munsell, Fultz & Zirbel in Cedar Rapids as its agency of record.
KANSAS
Sullivan Higdon & Sink in Wichita was named agency of record for the Allison Engine Co., a subsidiary of Rolls-Royce Aerospace.
KENTUCKY
Daewoo Equipment Corp. selected Caudill and Associates in Covington to handle public relations for its lift truck division. The shop has also been named public relations agency for LA-MAN Corp., a manufacturer of filtration and lubrication products.
Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services tapped Guthrie/Mayes in Louisville to handle its public relations.
MICHIGAN
Simons Michelson Zieve in Troy was named agency of record for The Detroit News.
Grand Rapids-based Hanon McKendry and its Straight Line public relations affiliate have been hired by telecommunications company US Xchange and by Wolverine Building Group to provide integrated communications services.
Meridian Advertising is the new name for Meridian Retail in Troy. The change reflects the agency's expansion beyond retail advertising into additional marketing categories.
MINNESOTA
Foley Sackett in Minneapolis was named agency for Leeann Chin, a 28-unit restaurant chain. The agency will handle advertising, public relations, sales promotion and point-of-sale development. The shop was also selected to handle trade, recruitment and co-op advertising for the American Express Financial Advisors division of American Express.
Olson + Co., Minneapolis, will work with snack chip marketer Old Dutch Foods as consumer advertising agency of record.
MISSOURI
Bernstein-Rein Advertising, Kansas City, received an award from the Partnership for a Drug-Free America recognizing its work for the advocacy group. The shop signed on in 1986 as one of the organization's founding agencies.
Drone & Mueller and Associates in St. Louis was chosen to plan and manage marketing communications for McMahon Group, a consultant to the club industry.
Kupper Parker Communications in St. Louis was selected by American HealthCare Management to develop a marketing communications program.
Susan M. Christensen, managing partner at Direct Impact, St. Louis, was named Direct Marketer of the Year by the St. Louis Direct Marketing Association.
NEBRASKA
TeamBank Nebraska selected Swanson Russell Associates, Lincoln, as its agency of record for advertising, public relations, database marketing and strategic planning.
OHIO
HMS Partners in Columbus will put its name on a 42,000-square-foot expansion of the Bicentennial Plaza office complex. The agency will occupy 16,500 square feet in the new building, scheduled to be completed in the spring of 1998.
Ira Thomas Associates, based in Youngstown, announced plans to open an office in Independence, a suburb of Cleveland. The office is set to open Jan. 2, with Beth Hallisy as its general manager.
Brain Farm in Cleveland was selected by Restaurant Developers Corp. to create a new advertising campaign for its regional Mr. Hero sandwich shop franchise.
