Trying to expand Lugz Shoes’ appeal geographically to suburban areas, Avrett Free Ginsberg is launching its first national campaign for the shoe maker. The effort begins with a TV spot set to break Feb. 3 during the XFL games.

The 30-second spot, “Pirate Radio,” shows the animated Blueman battling the electric company. Wearing Lugz shoes, he steals the city’s electric power so he can spin records on a rooftop turntable for his pirate-radio station. When utility workers arrive to restore the power, Blueman dances to a hip-hop beat and fights them before regaining power for his radio station.
