Bill Clinton turned his eye on one of Boston’s broadcast veterans recently. The president appointed Paul La Camera to the newly formed Advisory Committee on Public Interest Obligations of Digital Television Broadcasters.
La Camera, president and general manager of WCVB-TV in Boston, will advise Vice President Al Gore on the obligations of broadcasters to address public interest on various issues, including whether to allow free airtime to political candidates.
“It’s a great honor,” La Camera said. “I’m very proud and excited.”
La Camera is the only general manager of a television station on the committee.
