Dow Jones & Co. said total April advertising linage for The Wall Street Journal, the company’s flagship newspaper, fell 37.2% from a year ago. The company also said advertising linage at the newspaper fell 40.1% per issue.

Dow Jones (DJ), which also publishes this and other newswires and publications, said Tuesday that the Journal’s general ad linage fell 38.9% in April; financial ad linage tumbled 39.6%, and classified and other linage fell 23.8%.

There were 21 issues of the Wall Street Journal in the latest month, compared with 20 last April.
