Advertisers wondering how a change of guard atop the editorial masthead at Better Homes & Gardens will affect their relationship with the magazine can probably breathe a sigh of relief. Jean LemMon, who becomes editor-in-chief of BH&G on May 1, makes no secret of her desire to make the Meredith flagship title as advertiser-friendly as possible. “I’m the kind of editor who feels my first priority is to the reader, but I also feel like I should be a spokesperson for the magazine in the advertising community,” LemMon said last week before boarding a plane for Chicago to stump for Meredith’s Country Home, which she currently edits.
