DALLAS-Ackerman McQueen continued to solidify the tourism and recreation roster of its Colorado Springs, Colo., office by gaining the national branding campaign for a renovated historic inn opening for the first time in 16 years.
Ackerman was tapped by the Cliff House Pikes Peak property in Manitou Springs, Colo. (the base town of Pike's Peak) to conduct an advertising, marketing and public relations campaign. The inn reopens this June to accommodate tourists and business retreats.
Annual billings were undisclosed.
The Oklahoma City-based shop gained the ear of hotel officials through its recent advertising for the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors bureau.
AM also sports agency of record status and Effie Award-winning work for Oklahoma tourism.
"Ackerman McQueen has an extensive history in launching new hotels," said agency senior vice president of client development Robert Howsam.
Chief among those tasks was new hotel assignments nationwide for Sheraton in the 1980s. The shop more recently helped christen the new Medallion Hotel in Oklahoma City.
The advertising for Cliff House will debut nationally in select travel and leisure magazines, complete with a new logo designed by the agency. The scope of assignments includes outdoor, newspaper and magazine, direct marketing, online and promotional events.
The Cliff House, originally built in 1873, was one of the more noted Rocky Mountain hotels during the turn of the century, hosting the likes of Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, P.T. Barnum and Clark Gable.
The famous who bedded down at Cliff House long ago would still recognize the facilities today. The renovation was able to maintain the inn's heritage and rustic ambiance. But they might be confused by some of the modern refurbishing that has been added, such as fiber optic communications wiring. ƒ
