David Abramson, longtime chairman of AbramsonEhrlichManes in Washington, D.C., has left the shop to launch a second career after selling his stock to AEM’s Tim Labus and Gerry Van De Velde.
Labus, AEM president and chief executive officer, and chief operating officer Van De Velde bought the shares last fall, but no announcement was made then. Terms were not disclosed, though one analyst estimated the selling price at less than $3 million.
“David stayed with us to finish up a transition and make sure clients were happy,” said Van De Velde, 42, who joined AEM in 1993 from Earle Palmer Brown in Bethesda, Md.
Labus, 49, an alumnus of DDB Needham and Lintas in New York, was recruited by AEM in late 1992 as executive vice president.
