$50 Mil. Australian Tourism Goes Into Play

LOS ANGELES Tourism Australia is seeking agencies to vie for a global creative and media planning contract, according to the Australian government Web site, where details of the solicitation are posted.

Billings are approximately $50 million over three years, sources said.

The account is split among six agencies worldwide and the review represents an effort to consolidate efforts at fewer shops.

Managing director Scott Morrison said TA is seeking two global agency networks (one each for creative and media planning) with "a strong physical presence" in Australia and New Zealand, the United States, the Far East and Europe.

Interpublic Group's Dailey & Associates in West Hollywood, Calif., works on the U.S. portion of the business. Other roster agencies include Grey Global Group's Grey in London and Omnicom Group's Whybin TBWA in Sydney, Australia.

"This tender is about wanting to work with global agencies who have a network that matches our operations both here and internationally; who can work with us to drive execution of our strategies globally and have the local in-market expertise to ensure local issues are appropriately accommodated," Morrison said.

The contract will run from this July through June 2008. The review is scheduled to conclude on March 29, according to TA. Dailey could not be immediately reached for comment.
