DALLAS Smoothie King has issued a request for proposal to public relations and marketing firms, sources said.
The Kenner, La.-based smoothie franchise plans to hire one or more agencies to provide the services under a one-year contract that will be renewable up to three years, according to sources. The company has a marketing budget of $750,000, which does not include media; franchisees place their own media, sources said.
The client, which positions itself as "The original nutritious smoothie" and uses "Be good to yourself" as a tagline, is looking for firms to handle public relations services and develop an overall marketing plan. Creative work, including TV and radio, "may be requested," according to sources.
RFPs are due back March 1. The client, which has 339 locations in 34 states, could not immediately be reached for comment.
