Lippi & Co. Does Not Advance From Semis
CHICAGO--A Southeast shop did not make the cut in the Kaufman Footwear review, as the client will hear final presentations this week from three agencies looking to capture its $8-10 million ad account.
A representative for the Kitchener, Ontario, marketer of work and outdoor shoes confirmed the previously announced list of six semifinalists had been narrowed to three finalists: incumbent Brandworks International in Toronto; W.B. Doner & Co. in Southfield, Mich., pitching with its Toronto office; and Martin/Williams in Minneapolis.
Eliminated from the review were semifinalists Lippi & Co. in Charlotte, N.C.; Periscope Marketing Communications in Minneapolis; and Lyons Marketing Communications in Wilmington, Del. Another semifinalist, Carmichael Lynch in Minneapolis, had withdrawn earlier this month, citing possible client conflicts.
A decision is likely by the end of the month, the Kaufman rep said.
The account includes media responsibilities as well as creative development. Kaufman said it intends to spend $4-6 million on television, radio and print work, with the remainder of the budget earmarked for interactive, trade, in-store and co-op marketing programs.
In announcing the review in June, the company said it would consider agencies with experience in retail and with outdoor products. Doner has handled Oshman's Sporting Goods and several retailers, including Venture Stores and Hills Department Stores. Martin/Williams handled outdoor products marketer Coleman Co. for several years and is a roster shop for Target Stores.
