In 1980, Jack Keil, then a creative director at Dancer Fitzgerald Sample in New York, gave voice to McGruff the Crime Dog, who urged people to “Take a bite out of crime.” Twenty-five years later, Keil, retired, is still the voice of McGruff, who stars in three 25th anniversary radio spots by Saatchi & Saatchi (which bought DFS in 1986) in New York. The ads, directed by Joe Barone of audio production house McHale Barone in New York, feature McGruff on the set of a talk show with Joy Behar of The View and offer tips like getting to know your neighbors by saying “Hi” and hosting coffee-and-cake gatherings.
