NEW YORK Independent Horizon Media here has won Harrah’s media buying duties following a consolidation review, according to sources.

Harrah’s, the Las Vegas-based casino and resorts operator, spent $85 million on advertising in the first 11 months of 2005, up from $65 million for full-year 2004, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Sources said the company is planning another bump in spending this year that will bring ad expenditures to $150 million.

Other contenders included Interpublic Group’s Initiative and WPP Group’s Mediaedge:cia, both in New York, as well as incumbents Tracy Locke in Dallas, RDM in Chicago and R&R in Las Vegas, sources said.
