He once kept time for the Godfather of Soul. Now Clyde Stubblefield is singing and playing the skins for personal communication systems.
Stubblefield, who was James Brown’s original drummer, according to Madison, Wis., agency Lindsay, Stone & Briggs, is featured in radio spots airing this month in Wisconsin for Einstein PCS phones from Airadigm Communications in Appleton, Wis.
Dave Adler, a music director for the Comedy Central network, was commissioned to write original music for the two 60-second spots, which aim to show that Einstein brand phones are “hip and cool,” according to Harvey Briggs, creative director at LS&B.
“These are definitely not jingles,” Briggs assured.
The eight-week radio run is buttressed by print ads with a holiday theme.
