Xerox today appointed John Kennedy as vp and CMO, effective next week.
Kennedy comes from IBM, where he was vp, global business services, responsible for marketing and demand generation in the business services division. Before joining IBM in 1996, he worked at Procter & Gamble in a number of senior marketing, sales and strategy roles. He started his career at NationsBank.
Kennedy also serves on the boards of the National Association of Advertisers and the Business Marketing Association.
"John brings a global view and a proven track record of success changing brand perception and driving strategic business results through integrated marketing and communications," said Hervé Tessler, svp and president of corporate operations at Xerox. "He is a natural choice to lead our efforts in the digital age and to strengthen and broaden the Xerox brand around the world."
Kennedy fills a vacancy left by the October exit of Christa Carone for Fidelity Investments, where she became evp of corporate affairs, communications and events. Carone had worked at Xerox for 17 years.
Xerox's longtime lead agency is WPP Group's Young & Rubicam.
