Wieden Hires Poke's Iain Tait for Digital

Wieden + Kennedy is bringing on a founder of respected British digital shop Poke.

Iain Tait was a founding partner at Poke, the Mother-backed London interactive agency that works for clients like Orange, Stella Artois and the BBC. Tait and five partners began Poke in 2001. He served as creative director there.
 
Tait (shown) will relocate from the United Kingdom to work at Wieden's Portland, Ore., headquarters. A Wieden rep said the agency isn't prepared to discuss details of Tait's role at the shop. Tait was unavailable for comment, but told New Media Age the move was motivated in large part by family reasons.

"As part of my life reassessment, I ended up having conversations with Dan Wieden about a fantastic opportunity with Wieden," he said. "I went to visit and fell in love with the place, the people and the life I know I can make for my family out there."
 
The hire beefs up Wieden's digital profile, as Tait joins Renny Gleeson in leading its digital side. Wieden does interactive work for clients such as Old Spice and Nokia. The move could signal that the shop is intent on grabbing more digital business from clients like Nike, which uses R/GA and AKQA for much of its digital work.

Prior to starting Poke, Tait worked in business development at Oven Digital, product development at First Tuesday and strategy at Syzygy.

At Poke, he was a proponent of building smart, simple and useful brand tools. Poke created a Twitter application called BakerTweet for a London bakery to alert customers when fresh rolls were available.
