When you envision your dream house, do you situate it in a specific ZIP Code? If not, it may be a sign you aren't rich. The 2008 Coldwell Banker Previews International Luxury Survey found affluent homeowners focusing on highly specific locales when imagining their dream houses. In fact, 17 percent said they've considered moving "expressly to obtain a specific address or ZIP Code."
Released last month, the survey was conducted by International Communications Research in April among homeowners whose primary residence is valued at more than $1 million (or, in California, more than $2 million) and who also have at least $1 million in investable assets. For 27 percent of respondents, the dream home would be on an island (maybe not Staten Island), while 22 percent would want it to be someplace rural.
