Notwithstanding his latest public apology, Americans aren’t yet ready to accord Tiger Woods a mulligan. In NBC News/Wall Street Journal polling in the middle of this month, fewer than one in five respondents expressed a “very positive” (7 percent) or “somewhat positive” (9 percent) opinion of him. Twenty percent were “somewhat negative” and 18 percent “very negative,” with another 39 percent “neutral.” The rest weren’t sure. The one bit of good news here for the golfer is that his “very negative” score is down from 24 percent in a poll last December.
