The well-dressed Travelers Insurance man and his helpful red umbrella return in new spots from Fallon, but this time his fixes aren't so magical. In "Cheesecake," he helps protect a baker's business, placing tiny red umbrellas over his cheesecakes as they roll out on a conveyor belt. In another shot, he protects cargo. Gone are the days when the magic man used his umbrella to save a stranded circus troop and to fly home lost children. Perhaps the more literal manifestation of his powers is in tune with the times. Still, I preferred the unexpected visuals and storybook quality of the last spot. Now, they've more or less stripped the man of his magic and reduced the campaign to just another bunch of insurance ads.
