NEW YORK A management shift is underway at Toyota Motor Sales, the automaker confirmed.
Don Esmond, senior vice president and general manager, has been named svp of automotive operations, in charge of the Toyota and Lexus divisions, both headquartered in Torrance, Calif., as well as sales administration, logistics and sales in Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Jim Lentz, group vice president of marketing, will replace Esmond as group vp and general manager of Toyota. Lentz will direct all sales and marketing activities for Toyota and continue to report to Esmond.
Bob Carter, vice president of Toyota sales, has been named group vp and general manger of Lexus, replacing Denny Clements, who announced that he would retire in June.
Toyota spend $740 million last year advertising its line of cars and trucks, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
