While the recession impinges on Americans of all ages, a Qvisory/Greenberg Quinlan Rosner report released this month shows it to be especially brutal for young adults.

For one thing, job losses have been disproportionately heavy among 18-29-year-olds. In polling among people in that age cohort, 19 percent identified themselves as unemployed — more than double the jobless rate for the total adult workforce. This is having the negative effect you’d expect on young adults’ ability to pay their bills.
