BOSTON T.J. Maxx has hired Pile and Co. to oversee a review of its broadcast creative business handled by Interpublic Group’s Mullen.

The client, a unit of TJX Cos., spent slightly less than $50 million all told last year in major measured media, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. About $35 million of that outlay was allocated for broadcast advertising.

Mullen’s Winston-Salem, N.C., office has handled the discount clothing chain business for nearly a decade and Pile and Co. said the agency would not defend.
