Maverick Advertising & Public Relations has been awarded the ad account of the Santa Fe Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.

The Fort Worth, Texas, agency bested incumbent Impressions Advertising of Santa Fe, N.M., and Rick Johnson & Co. of Albuquerque, N.M., in a review for the $750,000 creative and media account, the client confirmed.

Maverick has signed a one-year contract with an option to renew for three years. The agency is charged with creating all print and broadcast advertising, operating the bureau’s Web site and conducting market research.

The first print ads should break in September in national travel publications, Maverick vice president Jake Yarbrough said.
