Telemarketers Sue FCC Over List

The American Teleservices Association last Monday filed a suit seeking judicial review of the Federal Communications Commission’s adoption of rules restricting telemarketers’ practices. In its petition, the ATA said the new FCC regulations “mirror” the Federal Trade Commission’s rules governing telemarketing practices, under which a national “Do Not Call” list has been created. In January, the ATA filed suit against the FTC, saying that the list will cost the U.S. economy up to 2 million jobs in the $660 billion teleservices industry.
