TBWA has turned to a Sudler & Hennessey leader to jumpstart its WorldHealth operation in New York.
At Sudler & Hennessey, a healthcare specialist within Young & Rubicam Group, R. Shane Kennedy led digital efforts, overseeing 45 staffers in three departments: user experience, technology and digital. At TBWA\WorldHealth, he becomes managing director, the top executive in New York.
TBWA\WorldHealth has a modest presence in New York, with a handful of clients, including GlaxoSmithKline, which it shares with the main agency. Kennedy, 52, is charged with expanding that client base and adding talent where needed.
In his new role, Kennedy fills a vacancy left by the exit of Elizabeth Gullett earlier this year. He reports to Robert Harwood-Matthews, president of TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York.
Before Sudler & Hennessy, Kennedy steered business development at Elateral in London. Earlier in his career, he founded a Web-based technology company called MarketingForce.
In making the hire, Harwood-Matthews cited Kennedy’s “hybrid background” and “digital and entrepreneurial talents.” He started this week.
