Another Swedish creative star is joining McCann Erickson. Andreas Dahlqvist, executive creative director and managing partner at DDB Stockholm since 2004, is joining the agency’s New York office as vice chairman and executive creative director, a new position.

DDB Stockolm, known for award-winning work like Volkswagen’s “Fun Theory,” shared top honors with fellow Swedish shop Forsman & Bodenfors as the Gunn Report’s Digital Agency of the Year in 2010. The Omnicom shop also works for McDonald’s, Swedish Armed Forces, communications company Telia, Adidas, Skoda, the Royal Opera, RSA’s Trygg-Hansa/Codan insurance companies, Microsoft, Tropicana, and energy company Vattenfalls.

Dahlqvist, who started his career as an art director, had also been creative director at DDB’s predecessor agency in Sweden, Paradiset. From 1999 to 2003, he was creative director and founder of Swedish interactive shop The Bearded Lady.
