Subway has named Joseph Tripodi, a marketing vet who most recently served as Coca-Cola's chief marketing officer, as its new global CMO, effective immediately.

Tripodi replaces Tony Pace, who announced this summer that he would be stepping down after nearly a decade in the position to start his own marketing firm. Though, his departure came on the heels of news that former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle was mired in a child pornography investigation.

Now that Fogle has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for charges related to child pornography as well as soliciting sex from minors, the beleaguered sandwich chain—which has distanced itself from Fogle for months—can try to rehab its image.

In July the chain brought former svp of global marketing Chris Carroll back into the fold as its chief advertising officer and under his leadership the sandwich chain tapped BBDO as its new creative agency.
