LOS ANGELES–McCann-Erickson’s Seattle office has imported a British account planner with extensive youth marketing research experience to head its planning department.

Ed Cotton, 33, has joined the agency as director of account planning, a new position. He leads a department that includes veteran planners Thomas Kouns and Harlan Kennedy.

‘We’ve had account planning here for over two years, but what we needed was a leader,’ said Jim Walker, creative director and general manager of the agency.
