LOS ANGELES Tommy Gargotta has been named president of worldwide creative advertising for Sony Pictures Entertainment, according to Valerie Van Galder and Marc Weinstock, co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing for the studio.

Gargotta has been associated with developing campaigns for Casino Royale, The DaVinci Code, and You Don't Mess with the Zohan, among others.

He is expected to oversee promotions for upcoming releases such as Quantum of Solace and Angels & Demons.

"Tommy has been the creative force behind some of the studio's biggest hits," said Van Galder in a statement. "As Marc and I take on global marketing operations we believe he is the perfect choice to work with us and our amazing in-house creative team to develop marketing materials for the more than 100 countries we serve throughout the world."

Weinstock called Gargotta "a master marketer who is respected and admired by filmmakers and Sony executives."

The Culver City, Calif.-based studio also said Josh Goldstine would shift from president of creative advertising to the new role of senior creative executive.
