NEW YORK Carat Interactive has promoted Greg Smith, managing director of the New York office, to head of national media practices.
In the newly created post, Smith, 47, will oversee media planning and buying across the interactive agency's five U.S. offices: Boston, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta. He also will help develop new initiatives and cross-platform programs for clients such as RadioShack, Hyundai and Palm, among others.
He will continue to be based in the New York office and report to Sarah Fey, president of Boston-based Carat Interactive.
As managing director of the New York office, Smith primarily worked on consumer and pharmaceutical brands like Viagra, Lipitor and Benadryl for one of Carat Interactive's biggest clients, Pfizer.
Smith joined the i-shop about three years ago from Saatchi & Saatchi's interactive operation, Darwin Digital, which he helped found in 1997. Before that, he started the non-traditional media planning group at Zenith Media Services. He also has held various posts at Cliff Freeman and Partners, N.W. Ayer and Bates.
