NEW YORK Carat Interactive has promoted Greg Smith, managing director of the New York office, to head of national media practices.

In the newly created post, Smith, 47, will oversee media planning and buying across the interactive agency’s five U.S. offices: Boston, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta. He also will help develop new initiatives and cross-platform programs for clients such as RadioShack, Hyundai and Palm, among others.

He will continue to be based in the New York office and report to Sarah Fey, president of Boston-based Carat Interactive.
