Several Ad Categories Prove Key to OOH Growth

Despite a sagging economy, out-of-home advertising is expected to grow at a healthier clip than most other media in 2008. TNS Media Intelligence is forecasting outdoor spending to increase 5.5 percent, outpacing the 4.2 percent growth among all media. Other forecasts have it growing as much as 7 percent.

But like other media, the OOH sector got off to a slow start in first quarter as market conditions shook categories like real estate and financial. Second quarter looks better.
