Sacks/Fuller Lands Tire, Honey Baked Ham Accounts

LOS ANGELES - Local shop Sacks/Fuller picked up the L.A.-based Discount Tire Centers and Honey Baked Ham, Irvine, Calif., accounts, adding $8 million in combined billings to the shop's coffers, for a total of $12 million, according to agency president John Fuller.
Fuller said S/F will add three or four new staffers in creative and production.
Sacks/Fuller won the Honey Baked Ham chain in a review that also included Murphy & Watt/Irvine, Calif., according to a spokesperson for the 46-store California retailer. The incumbent, Foote Cone & Belding/L.A., had the account for about three years.
The review for Discount Tire Centers, with 120 stores in California, Arizona, Oregon and Washington, also included Kaiser McEuen/L.A. and Jack Lawlor Advertising/Pasadena, Calif. The client had previously handled advertising on a project basis.
Executives at Discount Tire Centers would not return phone calls. Honey Baked Ham spent almost $4 million in advertising in 1991, according to LNA.
The agency is moving its offices this week, doubling its space to 4,500 square feet. Other accounts include Irvine, Calif.-based footwear retailer Thieves Market; Watkins Manufacturing, a Carlsbad, Calif. maker of spas; and LoJack, the auto theft recovery system.
