SAN FRANCISCO -- Juxt Interactive has been tapped by beach sandal and footwear company Reef to handle its online advertising efforts, the interactive agency said Wednesday.

Juxt, based in Newport Beach, Calif., expects that a new site for the client, www.reef1.com, will launch in the middle of Q2. A budget for the new business was not disclosed.

Jeff Cutler, director of brand marketing at Reef, said that the Web site is "an incredible tool for our brand -- it is time to maximize it and we are stoked to have Juxt on board with us." Reef is based in San Diego, Calif.

The Web site will focus on communicating the new online Reef brand within an exciting user experience, the i-shop said. It will promote the seasonal debut of products, sponsored athletes, sponsored events and the "Reef Girls".

Juxt creative director Todd Purgason will lead design direction for the new Reef online brand. "Reef is one of the most well-known international brands in the youth board sports market," noted Steve Wages, CEO of Juxt. "They have been around a long time and have loyal following of customers, with their core in surf."

Juxt Interactive is a four-year-old company; other clients include Billabong, Macromedia, Red Bull, Pacific Sunwear and Kawasaki.
