With Fox’s The Chicago Code, creator Shawn Ryan returns to the TV genre for which he is best known—the cop drama (he created FX’s iconic The Shield).

But whereas The Shield focused on a group of dirty cops, The Chicago Code’s policemen are nobler by nature. Premiering Monday, Feb. 7, at 9 p.m., the series stars Jason Clarke, Jennifer Beals and Delroy Lindo.

Correspondent Alan Frutkin spoke with Ryan about his new series, as well as The Shield, and his reaction to FX’s recent cancellation of Terriers, another series that he oversaw.
