The Phelps Group Picks Up 3 Accounts

LOS ANGELES-The Phelps Group, which has averaged 28 percent annual growth over the past 12 years, has achieved a major boost in the past month.
The Santa Monica, Calif., agency added more than $10 million in new business from three new accounts, bringing total billings to about $45 million.
For starters, the shop picked up advertising and other marketing duties for Playa Vista, developer of a massive L.A.-area commercial and residential development in which Dreamworks plans to build its studio. Others in the review included Santa Monica agencies WongDoody and Colby Effler & Partners.
"We chose The Phelps Group because of their breadth of services and demonstrated insight into our vision," said company president Peter Denniston.
Separately, the agency picked up ad duties for Western Dental, a chain of HMO dental clinics in California and Arizona, following an informal review of undisclosed Southern California shops. Last month it also picked up the estimated $2 million account of Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Advanced Research Laboratories, after a review that included Ground Zero, Marina del Rey, Calif., and Wiley & Associates, Westlake Village, Calif.
