Outdoor Revenue Growth Picks Up in Q2

Following a lackluster start in first quarter, outdoor revenue growth picked up in second quarter, climbing 3.6 percent to $1.88 billion. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, the increase is the industry’s largest year-over-year gain since 2008.

Lagging other media in the recovery, outdoor revenue was down 0.7 percent to $1.3 billion in first quarter. But conditions turned around in second quarter, with June showing a 7.1 percent increase.

The more positive second-quarter news reported by the OAAA was in line with recent quarterly earnings reported by the major media companies with CBS Outdoor leading the way, up 9 percent in the U.S.,
