NEW YORK Omnicom Group’s net income rose nearly 6 percent in the third quarter and more than 10 percent in the first nine months of 2008 compared to the same periods last year, the holding company said today.

The quarter’s net income totaled $213.6 million, up from about $202 million in Q3 2007. And for the first nine months, net income exceeded $729 million, compared to $661.9 million last year.

The growth in net income was driven by similar increases in worldwide revenue.
