NEW YORK The NFL said that John Collins, who has been senior vice president of marketing and sales since February 2003, will leave his position to become president and chief executive of the Cleveland Browns.

Collins replaces Carmen Policy, who said he will leave his position and assume the new role of executive advisor, effective May 1. The NFL did not immediately name a successor for Collins.

Collins was an NFL executive from 1989-1999 before a brief stint at Broadband Sports.
