NEW YORK McCann Worldgroup has been hired as the lead creative resource for Newell Rubbermaid's global technology business unit following a review. Sources pegged billings at $20 million.

The assignment, covering 36 countries, is for branding and business-to-business advertising, digital duties and marketing communications.

The business will be coordinated globally through McCann's Salt Lake City office (for the Americas), and have hub offices in Paris (for Europe, the Middle East and Africa) and Melbourne, Australia (for the Asia-Pacific region).

The Newell Rubbermaid unit, part of the company's office products group, integrates critical parts of the firm's technology products and services including DYMO home, office and industrial label printers; CardScan business card scanners and contact management software; Pelouze industrial and package/postal scales; Mimio interactive whiteboard and digital ink recorders; and Endicia Internet Postage.

"We were impressed with McCann's success in the areas of branding, their ability to affect the perceptions and actions of business decision markers and the talent in driving all channels that support these audiences," Jessica Miller, vp, marketing for the technology global business unit, said in a statement.

McCann Salt Lake City primarily works on b-to-b and technology accounts for clients like Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, MasterCard, Verizon and Verisign.
