NEW YORK Merkley Newman Harty & Partners in New York has landed U.S. ad duties for Elsevier, the global publisher of scientific and technical journals and books. Billings were not disclosed.

The Omnicom Group shop, which won the account without a review, will create traditional ads and collateral for the client, which is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and has offices in New York.

The shop already has started to develop its first work, which Elsevier chief marketing officer Barbara Cooperman described as “strategically sound” and “synthesizing a complex set of benefits with the needs of our diverse target audiences.”
