Publicis’ MediaVest has poached Jeff Fischer, a rising star at Mediabrands’ Universal McCann, to join its print buying team, Adweek has learned.
In his new post, Fischer will be director of publishing activation, reporting to Robin Steinberg, svp, director of publishing activation. Steinberg, who manages some $1 billion in annual print spending, oversees the budgets of some of print’s biggest advertisers, including Kraft and Coca-Cola.
Fischer joined UM in 2007 to run its J&J business. He recently took on a broader role, overseeing all of its print business, except J&J, including L’Oréal, Chrysler, Sony, Microsoft and Mastercard. He previously worked at Starcom (also a Publicis unit) on Procter & Gamble. He’s scheduled to start in his new role later this month.
