MEC North America is expanding its relationship with audio manufacturer Harman International Industries. The GroupM media network, which already worked for the audio equipment maker in international markets like China, Russia and the Netherlands, has been named the company’s global media agency of record.
Harman had been working with various agencies in different markets. In the U.S., the company’s media planning and buying has been handled by Doner, which remains Harman’s creative agency.
Last year the Stamford, CT-based Harman spent nearly $6.7 million in measured media, according to Nielsen. That amount does not include Internet or business-to-business spending.
Eamonn Store, president of MEC global solutions, cited the company’s long history with prominent recording artists like Paul McCartney and The Beatles as one of the more exciting aspects of the working relationship. “With all the young talent at MEC, we certainly didn’t have difficulty finding a strong team eager to work on the business," he said.
Store was promoted to his current position, in which he oversees international clients, in February 2011 when Marla Kaplowitz joined MEC as president of U.S. client services. She is now the company’s North America CEO.
